Trying to Get Serious

So, I know I'm not really a "new" player, but I am far from expert and figured this would be the best forum to post this in. With Free-to-Play coming, I was contemplating rolling a new character since I'd have plenty of new people to play with and it might be fun to try out some of the changed intro sequences. My problem is, no matter what character I'm currently playing, I end up trying another one, getting bored, or it just doesn't feel like me. I'm always thinking in the back of my mind "did I make the right choice?" and I can never give myself an answer. I wanted to get an "answer" before F2P hits, maybe I'll roll on that new server, who knows. I've written down my thoughts and experiences, but can't seem to get anywhere with myself, and I didn't want to make this just another "which class for me thread." More of an open discussion of ideas, opinions, lore, etc. So, going through my Roster I got this far.

Classes Under 20:
Champion (Man): The fist character I made. Saw the beginner tag and thought it would be a good choice. I like the simplicity of the class. Kill him before he kills you. Never really understood the AoE portion of the class, but never really had to. The one thing t hat drove me away from the class is the fast pace. I always felt "under pressure" from my fervor meter.

Minstrel (Hobbit): The other beginner class and the next jumping off point. Originally created because I wanted to play a fat character to break the whole "muscular hero" stereotype. I think I misunderstood this class because it was still early in my career. Never got into a Fellowship so I mostly felt underpowered because this class wasn't really meant to kill. My first taste of "chain" skills and I liked it.

Captain: This was the character I was going to make as my first, but the "moderate" tag scared me off. I like the "idea" of the captain class more than any other class (maybe tied with Lore-Master) I take on support roles by nature and I thought this would be a good fit, but I never made it that far. Seemed very clunky and unfocused, hard to make heads or tails of anything. I had buttons that did everything. Maybe that's just inexperience talking.

Classes 20-30:
Hunter (Man): First character to make it to 20 any beyond (and score an undying title on top of that). I really liked this one. Shoot from a distance, in a fellowship all you had to do was focus your fire (within reason of course). It was the character I ran to when I didn't want to think, which is probably why he made it so far. The problem is, with all that ease, it got repetitive. I guess easy doesn't always mean fun. Still, I do come back to this one on a regular basis.

Guardian (Dwarf): My final character rolled recently after getting bored with the Hunter (see above). I liked this one as well. The reactive combat was fun, took some of the thinking out of it by limiting my option (always a good thing, I like being "told" what to press). Being a Dwarf on top of that made combat extra satisfying (better than the "ahhhh" I got from other characters). Never got to tanking, so I can't comment on that. The Barrows seemed very simplistic, it was just get in there and smash the mobs till they died.

I haven't tried any of the other classes, and have never rolled an elf. I pretty much stayed away from anything with an "advanced" tag. It's not so much that I don't want anything hard. I just don't want to find myself in a situation where I CAN'T play my class. I'd hate to get a Rune Keeper up there only to realize I'm horrible at playing a healer. I don't know what to do. In my mind I've exhausted all possible options. Should I try and tough it out with one of these classes, or get over my fear of the "advanced" tag. If any of this helps. In real life I like to shy away from front and center. I live in the shadows, I don't really like to draw attention to myself. That's probably why I played DPS all those years. How can you screw up damage. I shoot it, it dies, nobody whines that U wasn't doing my job. When I do this in real life (Dagorhir) I grab my 10 foot spear and hang out in the rear rank poking people to death, and find it very satisfying. If you put my in a shield wall I'll crumble like a rock. Javelins make for very satisfying head shots, as does my tall intimidating longbow.

Well, it's 10 till midnight. I'll leave it at this and see what pops up from y'all, and go from there. I'm just so stumped. Maybe I just needed to vent.
